Royal Navy invests in advanced simulators for ship-handling training
The RN now has nine new simulators which accurately recreate both the bridge of present-day warships and the waters and harbours officers of the watch will typically operate in. 5 new simulators have been installed at HMS Collingwood (Fareham) together with facilities at HMNB Clyde (Faslane) and Brittania Royal Naval College (Dartmouth).

Following the annual Commando Helicopter Force and Royal Marine exercise Clockwork inside the Arctic Circle 🇳🇴Norway, Merlin Mk4s of 845 Naval Air Squadron delivered firewood to remote trekking cabins as a thank-you to their hosts. Are the RN trying to imply that in the future all naval operations will be carried out in simulation? With a panel judges ‘awarding’ the victory to whoever they deem the winner?
This is just for training at the moment I think. There isn't an enormous amount of difference between simulation and teleoperation. Victory will always require reducing the other side's ability to fight until they can't or don't want to. Waging war, when it seems less about flags and more about global capitalism's 'interests' with every passing year, might be suffering from diminished desire to expend children? I expect we'll see more 'virtually' crewed ships in future. The ships will have to be real but when one of ours sinks, the kids will be home early for tea.

I'm ex Royal Navy 85/92 and served on hms intrepid. 4 years for a refit. WTF. I remember the type 23s being built just along the road from me as I live in Glasgow.
They probably built her quicker than this refit!
